OTOPLASTY
Some patients present a major ear separation in relation with the skull. This characteristic is observed in children and can be corrected around the age of six as is the age when the children start having self-esteem problems and become victims of cruel nicknames at school.
Surgery consists in a small incision in the back of the ear where some of the prominent cartilage is taken and some points are placed to recreate a more natural form of the ear. The procedure can be performed under local anesthesia or sedation; it is ambulatory and takes two hours. We recommend a recovery of 4 days to return to daily activities with special attention to the specialist recommendations.
